Government to support young people
The Diario front-page headlines the news that the Regional Government will support young people to buy or rent houses in Madeira.
The program designed to address housing shortages for low-income households and will reach 2,000 people, with the incentive being worth as much as €225 per month. The measure will also favour those who choose to live outside the centre of Funchal, where prices continue to rise, particularly for larger apartments. Rents approaching €2,000 per month are not uncommon as the available stock falls due to the rush by landlords into local renting to tourists that has been seen over the last few years.
