False alarms in city centre
The Diario reports that the Madeiran Volunteer Firefighters were called out at 12:14 am this morning (Monday) to the residential part of the Anadia building in Funchal due to a suspected fire. Apparently, this turned out to be a false alarm. The firefighters, however, carried out a survey of the building equipped with oxygen masks.
There were still two vehicles of the BVM (an emergency first aid and a light emergency), as well as agents of the Security Police, on-site in the early hours of the morning.
This was the second alert for a possible fire that occurred in Funchal last night. Shortly after 8 pm, two teams of firefighters were called to an office building near the Apolo cafe, next to the Cathedral, which also proved to be a false alarm.
