Lions Club logoThe Lions Club of Funchal will hold their annual Christmas Fair this weekend (December 1st and 2nd), at their headquarters in Rua Imperatriz D. Amélia, just alongside the Prince Albert pub, with the aim of raising funds for social projects. On sale will be various products, including books, decorative items, traditional flowers, orchids, biscuits and cakes. will be open from 10.30 am to 7.00 pm, and there will be a tea service, accompanied by homemade cakes.
The Funchal Lions Club is a Non-Profit Organisation, founded in 1966. It is part of the Lions District 115 of Portugal, which has 56 clubs and 1449 members. It is one of the largest international service club organisations in the world dedicated to humanitarian services, founded by Melvin Jones in the United States in 1917. Currently, there are more than 46,000 Lions Clubs spread across 210 countries worldwide, with more than 1.4 million members.

  1. The Lions organisation world wide is to be applauded for all the work they do. I know the Funchal branch is kept going by volunteers who do some tremendous work.

  2. If you’re looking for homemade cake don’t miss a visit here..The Lion’s Club afternoon tea is not to be missed. Held in the lovely old house next to the new Savoy and Prince Albert. Cake heaven….mmmmm There are also homemade jams etc to tak home.
