Alto Lido Hotel reopensThe Alto Lido Hotel officially reopens this Friday, September 28, at 5:00 p.m. The hotel has undergone a substantial refurbishment over recent months, as its “sister” hotel, the Baía Azul, which is nearby, did immediately before. Both are owned by Grupo Cardoso, currently the third largest hotel group in Funchal, with a total of 1,060 beds across the two four star units.
The Alto Lido has 42 deluxe premium rooms, 20 apartments and 10 suites and also includes a new spa area with three treatment rooms and a heated indoor pool. There are also what are described as “sensorial” showers (!), a sauna, a Turkish bath and a gym.

World Tourism Day

The Journal reports that the Whale Museum in Caniçal will today have free admission, and that other museums around the island will follow the same policy as part of World Tourism Day.
