Heavy rain warning Tuesday

Madeira and Porto Santo on Yellow warning

The Portuguese Weather Institute has recently issued a yellow warning for precipitation, with periods of rain, sometimes heavy, valid between midnight and noon of next Tuesday, June 2.

The notice covers the north and south coasts of Madeira, as well as the mountainous regions, but also the island of Porto Santo.

First Binter plane carries just 3 passengers

The first flight to Porto Santo this morning carried just 3 passengers as the inter-island link resumed after two months of absence due to pandemic.

The ATR72 returned to Madeira at 8:30 am. It will return to Porto Santo at 4:55 pm and be back in Madeira at 5:55 pm. The ATR 72 landed around 6:00 pm on Sunday, in Madeira, to resume the inter-island connection.

  1. Looks like an unsettled week ahead for Madeira with thunderstorms forecast for the weekend – perhaps the prelude for the ‘capacete’ as it’s that time of the year.

As MarieV says, for a change, the UK is in need of some – already had a notice from our local Water Authority asking us to reduce usage – ironically one of the reasons cited is increased consumption due to frequent C19 hand washing by everybody during lockdown !!

  2. Glorious day in Funchal today – the bay seems to protect the city from (relatively!) poor weather that can affect other parts of the island in June – and indeed the eastern parts of the city on occasions. The clouds, however, tend to always clear by the end of the month.
