“Went over to Porta da Cruz yesterday & stumbled across the sugarcane-processing operation in full swing. Thought you might like one or both of these for the blog. It’s fascinating to see the old machinery still working, & you can walk right round & have a good look. (No sissy safety rules or regs!) There’s also a cool little shop next door where you can buy samples or whole bottles of the stuff, dark or light & from 5 to 50 years old. They told us they’re in operation every year during May & June so should be going for a while yet, if anyone wants a look”.
This piece is written by an Indian travel writer. I note that she is quite impressed by the helicopter rides, but there of course was only the one helicopter, and from what I have read in the news that has either gone or will be finishing soon, for financial reasons.
