TODAY’S PHOTO : Thanks to Karen … a waterfall at 25 Fontes, the destination of a well known levada walk that can be started from Rabaçal, or alternatively from the old road from Paul da Serra down to Calheta.
If you are into ornithology, or in my simple terms are a bird spotter, you might find this webpage of interest. It records some recent ‘spotting’ of rare birds on Madeira, and even has photos to prove the point : RARE BIRDS
I don’t know if anyone else watches the local news in the morning (RTP-M), but I usually tune in whilst I am having my cup of tea. It switches from RTP-Madeira every half hour to RTP1 national news, and then back again, so you not only get the local traffic news, but the national traffic news as well. Some mornings this equates to at least 10 minutes traffic news in the hour. Many years ago traffic news was a fairly new thing on the radio, and as I used to drive a lot I was grateful once in a while to know when there were problems ahead. That was radio bulletins, they used to tell you about problems, not about what was going well. These local and national bulletins on TV, spend far too much time showing live pictures of perfectly clear roads, when there may not be a single traffic problem anywhere in Portugal or Madeira … why is that? Presumably is make very cheap ‘filling’ for RTP and other stations.
I don’t want to do a sports blog today, but as many will be dying to know who won the Madeira Cup, Marítimo beat Caniçal 5 – 3. Funny that Uncle Bertie wasn’t there.
Please don’t forget that news articles will now be posted throughout the day – Check back regularly and keep yourself up to date.
