Thomas Cook’s German subsidiary cancels flights

Neckermann Reisen future in doubt

The German branch of British travel company Thomas Cook, which also went bankrupt in September, has cancelled all of its trips until the 31st of December, even if they are partially or fully paid, various sources report today.

Deutsche Thomas Cook now hopes to become operational from December 1 and travel again early next year.

“We are very sorry to have to cancel these trips, but we cannot guarantee them”, said Stefanie Berk, the company’s executive director.

So far, the disruption in Germany of Thomas Cook travel, which also affects the Neckermann Reisen, Öger Tours, Bucher Reisen or Air Marin branches, only took effect until the end of October.

The company has issued a statement on its website:

Dear guests,

The German organizer Thomas Cook and also the Swiss company Thomas Cook International AG have had to file for bankruptcy. The regular business operations had to be stopped and any sale of travel from the portfolio of the Thomas Cook organizers stopped. This concerns Thomas Cook Signature, Thomas Cook Signature Finest Selection, Neckermann Reisen, Bucher Reisen, Öger Tours and Air Marin as well as Thomas Cook International.

Unfortunately, therefore, all guests of the aforementioned organizer brands with departures up to and including 31.12.2019 their journey for insolvency reasons not compete. For travel with travel date from 01.01.2020 the further procedure is checked.
