Weekly “Agricultural Expo” in Municipal Gardens
The Journal reports on a project to promote the production of local, biological and artisanal goods in the Region, according to a statement from Municipality of Ponta do Sol which is holding an “Agricultural Expo” starting today, Sunday, August 11, in the Municipal Garden, from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, on a weekly basis.
“This is an initiative that emerges from the need to adapt the community to new market dynamics, positioning trade from a globalization perspective to closer proximity, thus creating new strategies for the dissemination of locally produced products”, reads the press release.
“It is hoped that this Agricultural Expo will become a clear and appealing reference element in the surrounding area … together with several awareness initiatives, including the change of agriculture using synthetic chemicals. to one free of these; boosting a local and circular economy with special attention to the promotion of selective waste collection, focusing on organic and consequent composting; awareness-raising for the sharing/leasing of land and/or equipment; as well as the development of ongoing studies/surveys to assess real demand and local supply”, it adds.
The press release also states that “this market, being organized by the Municipality, has a social and community nature, allowing producers/farmers and subsistence artisans, resident in the municipality, to also participate. It also has the collaboration of the Ponta do Sol Parish Council and the Associação Organica ”. “They are all very welcome and we have the collaboration of the whole community”, it concludes.
