Independence of the Seas quickly returns to Funchal
The Diario reports that the cruise ship ‘Independence of the Seas’, which had left the port of Funchal at 16:00 pm today heading for Spain, decided to return to the Madeiran port, due to a passenger encountering health problems.
The ‘Independence of the Seas” was already heading past Santa Cruz when the Captain decided to hit reverse, and arrived in Funchal at 18.00 hours. The request to re-dock was made by the ship’s commander, explaining that a passenger has respiratory difficulties. An ambulance was waiting in the port to take the patient to a health unit.
