Escarpment secured in São Vicente
The Diario reports that the work São Vicente Municipal Council and the Regional Government carried out in front of the sea has been effectively concluded by the removal of the more unstable rocks located on the escarpment overlooking the village. The work took two days, according to the county’s vice president. Fernando Góis said all that the necessary precautions were taken, particularly in protecting motor vehicle and pedestrian movement in the affected area.
This “concerted action”, according to the mayor, was based on a “report from the LREC – Regional Laboratory of Civil Engineering – which drew attention to the need to remove aggregates from the slope. The condition of the cliff was considered dangerous to motorists and passers-by, so the option was to resort to an intervention of the Regional Government.
