CR7 is the 2nd highest paid sportsman in the world
According to the annual ranking published by Forbes magazine, Madeiran-born Cristiano Ronaldo was the 2nd highest paid sportsman in the world between June 2018 and June 2019, earning €96.3 million. Lionel Messi for the first time occupies highest place on the podium, with earnings of €112.2 million, €81.2 million in wages and prizes and €31 million in sponsorship. Ronaldo actually earns more in endorsements than Messi, but the latters wage is significantly higher.
Also for the first time, the podium belongs exclusively to footballers, with Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo being accompanied by the Brazilian Neymar, with the Paris Saint-Germain player having an annual income in the order of €92.7 million.
Both men moved up one place from last year’s list, due to boxing superstar – and last year’s top sporting earner – Floyd Mayweather’s inactivity.
