Helicopter late on the island
The Diario reports that the combat helicopter to assist in fighting any forest fires will arrive late in Madeira due to a delay in the paperwork presented to the Court of Auditors in Lisbon, which “signs off” regional expenditure. As usual this has been criticised by the Regional Government.
“The delay was in relation to the Air Force, because the paperwork for them only appeared last Thursday. Therefore, we are no longer able to board the aircraft on Friday (as planned). It will be Madeira Health Secretary Pedro Ramos told Lusa. The helicopter is transported by boat and was due to arrive on the island by Monday.
Madeira’s Operational Plan to Combat Forest Fires (POCIF), which enters into force on Saturday, represents an investment of 1.1 million euros in the Regional Government.
