2.9 magnitude earthquake recorded
The Portuguese Weather Institute (IPMA) yesterday afternoon registered an earthquake off the northwest of the island of Porto Santo.
The shock of 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred at 13:08, but it should not have been felt on land due to the weak magnitude. According to Wikipedia earthquakes in the range 2.0 – 2.9 are “Felt slightly by some people. No damage to buildings”. 3.0 – 3.9 are “Often felt by people, but very rarely causes damage. Shaking of indoor objects can be noticeable”.
