Winds of 100km/h possible in mountains
The Portuguese “Met Office”, the Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA), have issued a yellow warning for the mountainous regions of Madeira due to the strong southerly wind that could reach 100 km per hour. The notice takes effect tomorrow from 6 o’clock and continues until midnight.
Today the wind will be weak to moderate (10 to 30 km/h) from southeast, blowing moderate to strong (30 to 50 km/h) from the south in the highlands starting this afternoon. It is also expected to be mostly cloudy, with periods of cloudiness in the eastern part of Madeira and Porto Santo until the end of the morning.
