Children’s Christmas event again in Funchal centre
The Municipality of Funchal (CMF) and ACIF will transform the Praça do Município into a ‘Christmas Village”, starting tomorrow until January 6th, creating a childrens’s entertainment space for the duration of the holiday season.
The event is officially opened tomorrow at 4:30 p.m., with the traditional arrival of Santa Claus. According to CMF, the whole concept of the ‘Christmas Village’ was designed to “awaken the imagination of children and to instil a taste for Christmas traditions, without detracting from the beauty and identity of the square.”
The space will host multiple activities and every afternoon there will be a play area, with reading of short stories, illustrations or facial paintings as well as the daily snowfall, another of the events most popular with children.
The highlight of the venue continues to be the Christmas train, which is appreciated by the youngest, who will walk through an enclosure with reinforced security this year, which will feature ambient music throughout the day. The train is free to use and will run daily between 11.00am and 8.00 pm, with regular trips every 15 minutes.
