Madeira Wine Rally stopped after accident
The Journal reports late this afternoon that the Madeira Wine Rally has been stopped due to an accident involving one car, a Citroën DS3 R5 being driven by João Silva / Vítor Calado. At this moment, the rescue teams are in place and have already been able to remove the pilots from the car. The injuries appear not to be serious, but pilot and co-pilot are on their way to the emergency rooms of Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital, where they will be kept under observation. The biggest problem appears to have been the trip to emergency, as much of the access was barred with poorly parked vehicles.
Sunday: The second stage of the race is going ahead today, starting in Câmara de Lobos this morning.
