Ronaldo poses with 15 most important awards

Ronaldo poses with trophies at Pico do BarcelosFootball newspaper A Bola report that Cristiano Ronaldo “took advantage of his presence in Madeira at the start of the year to mark the achievement achieved in 2017 by becoming the player with the most individual prizes in football history”. Rather immodestly he posed at the Pico dos Barcelos viewpoint “among the 15 most important individual trophies, which, along with so many others of lesser expression, are part of the estate of his increasingly stuffed museum in Funchal”. The Portuguese tabloid rather succinctly described “an iconic photograph” illustrating Ronaldo’s  “intimate relationship with success”.
“When I played in the streets of Madeira and I dreamed of reaching the top of the football I could not imagine that one day I would take a picture like this,” the Madeira player wrote this morning, alongside the image he shared on social networks.

Marella Dream debut fails in Porto Santo

The marportsanto blog reports that the 2nd of January saw the arrival in Porto Santo of the “Marella Dream”. The ship was moored, but due to unfavourable weather conditions it did not disembark passengers, raising anchor soon after. This would have been the first visit of a ship of this scale to the island, as well as a debut for cruise operator, Marella Cruise, who despite being a very frequent visitor to Funchal had never been to Porto Santo.
Given its size (243 metres), smaller vessels would have been used to disembark passengers  – an operation that is usual whenever a ship exceeds the maximum size allowed by the size of the port.
It was the first of the 12 ships scheduled for 2018, which will be a record for the Porto Santo. The Marella Dream had arrived in Funchal for the fireworks on New Year’s Eve before heading to Porto Santo.
