Fires extinguished – or not?

Fires above Arco da Calheta this morningRather confusingly the Journal is reporting this morning that the fires above Ponta do Sol have been completely extinguished, whilst just an hour earlier the Diario reported that firefighters were still continuing to battle the outbreak. FN concur with the latter, saying that fires are still active in Tabua, reproducing a photo from Arco da Calheta above, this morning.
Meanwhile the Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries have been distributing food for cattle that have lost their usual pastures

The Diario is reporting the fire above PDS as extinguished. The fire near Tabua is almost out but the one on Paul da Serra is in a difficult location but it is hoped will be extinguished soon. Fingers crossed.

Just had a look at satellite images. No real rain clouds about to damp down the island.

Let’s hope this is the end of it for this summer
