What is a Francesinha?
from Portugal Daily View: http://www.portugaldailyview.com/
“French women are robust – and saucy. The creator of the francesinha (literally little french girl), knew this better than anyone else. Daniel David da Silva, a former emigrant who lived in Belgium and France before returning to Porto in the 1950s, saw fit to pay tribute to French women when, joking with the customers of the restaurant he worked in, he gave the name of ‘francesinha‘ to a tasty sandwich made of several meats and a spicy hot sauce – in contrast with the sulkiness of Portuguese women – which became a symbol of the city of Porto.”

Thanks to the greed of the owners of the landing ramp used formerly by the Naviera Armas Ro/Ro car ferry from Portimao, calling into the Canaries via Funchal, I will miss this year’s Carnaval, having reserved an apartment for the purpose of seeing this, along with other events.

7from dnoticias Sixty families of victims continue to have counseling in regional service…..About 60 people, relatives of victims of the storm of February 20, 2010 which caused 43 dead and six missing in Madeira, continue to have psychological counseling in the Regional Health Service (SESARAM).
“These are users who still refer to and still have some symptoms of the February 20″, Lusa said the Director of Psychiatry SESARAM, Ricardo Alves, adding that “most of the counseling is done currently in the borough health units mental health centers. ”
The official said that these units are closest to the area of residence of users, so knowledge of reality is “better”.
“The main complaint is when it starts raining during the night, people do not sleep,” said the doctor, considering that “many of these users” are “frankly better, but at first left the house, went to the neighbors,” because “remembered in a way so vivid, the this event that changed completely.”
Ricardo Alves recalled that after the tragedy two years ago was careful to open a “specific consultation to respond” to the families of victims, when he organized groups of psychiatrists and psychologists, “according to the characteristics of both families, whether of his own traumatic event. ”
In this phase of groups “have monitored approximately 240 people,” said the official, explaining that users are then presented with what is known in the clinical environment of “acute reaction to stress,” showing “insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity.”
Showed, too, “derealization,” added the physician, noting: “They asked ‘is that it happened, would happened to me because it happened to me, because it is one of my family who died?’”.
Assuming that this was a phase of “a lot of heartache, a lot of anger,” Ricardo Alves showed that one month after the tragedy, was evident in some cases, post-traumatic stress disorder.
“The person reexperiencing, through memories, dreams and lived, the whole situation,” he noted, pointing out yet another “cluster” of symptoms, evitamentos: “Imagine that a person was trapped inside the car in a particular street or in a particular tunnel begins to avoid going there because that location is what makes him nervous, “elucidated.
According to the Director of Psychiatry, there have been cases of users “unable to verbalize the event,” highlighting the importance of creating groups, through which “established relations support.”
For Ricardo Alves, situations like those described lead “to a high wear at any level, personal, familial, social, professional.”
Sure that this is a trauma that is for life, but can be exceeded, the doctor recognizes that there are cases and cases and some require monitoring drug: “I always say that with time, a good family and social support, a good personality structure, all we can overcome. ”
Ricardo Alves also admitted that with the approaching date of these people will “experience some pain, a feeling of loss,” but in cases where family members were not found is worse, because “never had a fight.”
“That which is made of ritual burial of the urn to be placed under the earth, is something that takes you to cut between biological life and faith of people. A person at least you are sure, then each according to their religious condition, understand how to understand, but at least have a ‘sure’, “he concluded.
8Lets not forget the people who lost people in the February 20, 2010 storm.
