   Thanks to the greed of the owners of the landing ramp used formerly by the Naviera Armas Ro/Ro car ferry from Portimao, calling into the Canaries via Funchal, I will miss this year’s Carnaval, having reserved an apartment for the purpose of seeing this, along with other events.

   Yes Paul, the road was closed at 12 noon today (Thursday) due to snow and ice on the roads on higher ground. I have seen some photos on Facebook, and there has been a fair bit of the stuff.
