Ribeira Brava Children’s Carnival Parade – 12th February 2010
Well, the weather improved drastically during this morning, and the kids got their chance to show off their carnival-wear thankfully. A much lower participation this year, but a real colour show nether-the-less, with the themes tied in with nature and the sea. Bless ‘em all!
Anyway, that’s just to get you in the Carnival mood, and hopefully encourage a few partakers to send in their pictures. If there are too many, I will have to pick out the best, but I very much doubt if that will be an issue.

Great Great Great photos of happy children–Thanks
1The pride of Madeira look fantastic , great photos Der.
Im making Sonhos, for over the carnival weekend. yum yum…..
2Tobi? Wot are Sonhos? Picture?
3aw shucks, it was no effort at all! Thanks
Sonhos I think are the merangue fluffy float-away treats that melt in your mouth, but not in your hand.
No, forget it, I was thinking of suspiros
4Sonhos are like light fluffy doughnuts, they are typical at carnival , and drizzled with cana de mel. (sugar cane honey)
5Are they fattening? If so will have lots.
6I have been to the last 8 carnivals but missed this one because the Irish government made half term only 3 days, they are beautiful pictures and myself, my 10 year old and 4 year old are gutted we missed it, more pictures please, they love this site
7I am not sure why I came up as anonymous, Tracie (Ireland)
8Great photos, Der. Love the elephants and the Pride of Madeira… and great that whatever month of the year, there always seems to be some excuse to celebrate. Could we please have your recipe for Sonhos, Tobi? They sound dangerously delicious.
9Recipe for Sonhos i will send to Der to put on blog.
10Thank you, Tobi…. perhaps I should dig out all my loose clothing in readiness!
11Great Carnival photos
