YES Der ..... Big Bad Bertie is "twisting arms" again and the good democratic people of Gaula and Santa Cruz are suffering from his dictorial ways - intimidation = vote for me/my party next time or else! Was he a Corporal in the army.....?

I think that we will see a "forced" Camara election in the coming weeks/months due to the very unsettled local situation.....Bertie has only served to make many many more people turn against him and his party. It appears that Philipe (JPP) could well become the local President. Wether this will worsen the situation in the short term I do not know but we have to start "the change" sometime .... and it IS possible - as far as I know Local council leaders/Presidents do have the power to liase directly with the EU (and mainland government) for direct funding for their suitable "local" projects - effectively bypassing Bertie. Or am I really being naive, is that a pig flying overhead, will Father Christmas fit down my chimney..........?

do you think that the cut backs in Santa Cruz are because Uncle Bertie has no money Martin, or as Elaine hinted retribution after his biggest election result failure.

The good people of Santa Cruz must have expected this as they slipped their JPP annotated voting forms into the urns on 11th October, but it didn't deter them ... they marched on to victory knowing that access to central resources and funding was about to become a lot tougher. Oh well, only another 47 months and it will all be back to normal, and in the meantime Santa Cruz will just need to take regular painkillers for that nasty jugular clench.

Good idea to have better stop-offs for coaches and buses in Rib Bra.
The coach operators will have to pay, 'cos it seems Bertie is out of cash.
I've heard there is a Scottish gent in England with a similar problem.

If it helps, the translation is "do you feel that there is corruption on Madeira?"

As a supplementary question from me :

Do you feel that the 4% that answered 'no' to the original question probably have nice new expensive cars and big houses?

Hi,

the Diario asks:

"Acha que há corrupção na Madeira?"

the answers at the moment:

Sim 90%
Não 4%
Talvez 6%

What do you think?
