The national TV station SIC brings it’s Summer entertainment roadshow to Madeira today. ‘Ao Vivo’ will be in Funchal most of the day, with live music, dancing, and all that sort of thing. If you can’t make it, the television coverage is from 11 am to 1 pm, and then again from 4 pm to 7 pm. They obviously have long lunch breaks these people from the continent.
On opening my fridge yesterday morning, I was shocked to find a frost resistant spider building a web in the corner. Not a big spider, but a concern for an active arachnophobe nether-the-less. I managed to remove it and place it safely outside, without being attacked, but it leaves serious questions about how did it get in the fridge. Ruling out the possibility that it opened the fridge door itself during the night, that leaves two options, and unless it was holding it’s breath in a carton of milk from Modelo, it really all points to the lettuce that I brought at Pingo Doce on Friday. As Pingo charge for lettuce by weight, it means I actually purchased that spider. Can you imagine that, an arachnophobe actually buying a spider? The lettuce was pretty manky looking I must admit, but I shall take more care in future.

Anyone go and see the fireworks last night at Caniço de Baixo, health and safty would have had a field day, i have never seen so many people leave their chairs so quick, with falling embers raining down on us all , its like this every year , the fireworks are just to close, and one of the Gazebos nearly caught fire but the people hosed it with water, i was lucky as we were sat under a palm tree , and just about managed to dodge the falling embers.
1Its the same old story with the fruit and veg , why pay Madeira prices when the imported stuff is cheaper, than god they dont go to the market in Funchal to buy it….
