São Pedro, Ribeira Brava 27th – 28th June 2009
On the main night, there was a much lower turnout than last year, maybe the weather put people off. The rain held off until about midnight, and then it didn’t really ease off again. We sent our reporter out with his cheap camera to record the highlights of the night, with not very impressive results. He claims he was out until 4am this morning because of the rain … I reckon there is more to that story than meets the eye!

Just reading today’s newspaper on the festival yesterday, and apparently police went to Ribeira Brava beach and told some of the meat sellers to clear the beach area because of the danger of the big waves at high tide (see the photos yesterday).
Add to that heavy rain late last night and today, and this must be turning into a disaster for some of the meat sellers, that paid up to €800 for the space they occupied.
1Absolutely baking here in UK today with temperatures due to soar to mid 80′s by Thursday with mega thunder storms a high threat. We will be in Madeira then but at least it will give us a chance to get used to the temperatures we might (hopefully) get on the island!!
2Where I am in Scotland it is 29 degrees.
