DON’T FORGET : To come and spend your money in Ribeira Brava this weekend for São Pedro. You have the parades tonight (9pm) a big name concert (11pm), activities and events through Sunday afternoon and evening, including a firework display (midnight), and some events on Monday pm (the actual São Pedro public holiday) as well.
I caught the tail end (about 10 cars) of the Classic Car Rally yesterday, as it dropped down into Ribeira Brava. No sign of any Ferraris, so I guess they must have all been at the front of the race. Normally I would have taken a good look, but unfortunately I saw about 8 of them in the tunnel, so I was struggling to breathe with all the fumes. Was that you at the back end Martin who gave me a wave?
This could be a really useful addition to the ‘Useful Links’ menu on the right hand side of this page. Particularly for Portuguese speakers living away from Madeira, or those who just want to view a bit of footage on the local news. I will monitor it for a few days and see if it is kept up-to-date (which it says it will be). It shows a complete RTP Madeira news bulletin. I have no idea if it is reproduced legally. ’tis raining this end …. a little. Looks sunny towards Machico, so orft that aways then for a spot of luncheon and a then visit to Maxmat – bathroom coming on nicely!
1Incidentally, the cafe (and mini supermarket) above Maxmat has to be one of our best recent finds – cracking selection of food, friendly staff and bargain prices.
a little rain here, but seems to be brightening up a bit now. Hope this doesn’t put the dampers on São Pedro.

3Pam, Maxmat at Machico (Norte). Cafe is up the stairs to the left of the Maxmat shop entrance – BBQ Frango and Espetada today in addition to soup, fish etc…yummy!
