Generate Your Own Elecricity

September 14, 2007 By: admin Category: Uncategorized News

source – Diário de Notícias 20/8/2007

Legislation due to be passed through the Madeiran Parliament next month will allow those who live on the island to generate their own electricity and sell it back to the ‘madeiran grid’. Using eco friendly methods such as solar power, fuel cells, water and wind, you will be able to buy equipment to put in your garden or attach to your house on a mortgage basis, financed by a madeiran bank, where some of the proceeds will be used to make the repayments. How much you will get paid will depend on the type of generation used, but the most eco friendly methods will be paid €650 per Mw/h (megawatthour).

bloggers comment – Bear in mind these are people who already have, or have applied for residency. For sure there are significant numbers not registered to add to this, specially working in time share.

Local News From The Madeiran Media & Other Snippets.

We don’t get much news of excitement here on the island. If you pick up the local newspapers you will find much about politics, sport and local events. We get very little crime, and most of that falls into the category of driving offences. However, once in a while we do get some interesting snippets, but if you didn’t follow the Portuguese & Madeiran media, you may well miss out. Here we intend to put that right, so check back regularly to find out what is going on.The full articles can normally be found in the local newspapers – see the madeira4u RESOURCES page on www.madeira4u.com . These are rough translations made on a best endeavours basis, and the facts should be checked out thoroughly if used for anything of any importance. If readers have anything of interest to add, please put it here, quoting your source and the date – thank you!!
